Construction on the Kennedy Space Center’s incoming Heroes and Legends attraction has officially begun. Scheduled to open in 2016, the Center’s new addition will showcase the accomplishments and characters of space explorations throughout the decades—all in hopes of inspiring the masses to, you know, reach for the stars.

The educational exhibit will feature a new (read: high-tech and interactive) U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame and will teach visitors about some of the earliest—and most dangerous—space missions. Also in the plans: an immersive, 3D omnidirectional theater.

The groundbreaking ceremony was a day after the 2015 U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame induction; more than 25 astronauts, NASA officials, and exhibit designers gathered at the construction site in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
