Since Amazon’s first Kindle came out in 2007, millions of readers have become fans of the popular e-readers, from the original basic model to the newest waterproof Oasis.
Travelers love the lightweight, compact Kindle that can store enough books to keep even the most avid reader happy throughout a vacation — without adding more than a few ounces to a carry-on bag. The Paperwhite models with backlighting allow reading without disturbing a seatmate in a darkened plane. Non-glare screens and print-like e-ink make reading easy at the beach or poolside. Even traditionalists who prefer reading paper books have become converts, at least for traveling.
Nearly all of this year’s most popular e-books come from Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited service, which offers millions of titles and thousands of audio books for a flat monthly fee.
