Heralding the arrival of spring, celebrations of Holi, the traditional Hindu festival of colors, are taking place around the world today. A testament to the Indian diaspora, revelers from Jodhpur to Cape Town to Spanish Fork, Utah are covering friends and family with vibrant gulal powders and quite literally painting the town red (and blue and pink and orange).

To commemorate the festivities, we're taking a look back at the brightest holi-day photos from years past, but check back throughout the day—we'll continue to update this post with our favorite snaps of Holi 2016.
