Construction is now complete on one of the world’s most impressive infinity pools.

Located on the 50th floor of the soon-to-open Palm Tower in Dubai, this infinity pool will offer fantastic, panoramic views of the city.

The pool is the lowest part of a three-story attraction that will open on the top three floors of The Palm Tower called “The View at The Palm.” Above the pool is a restaurant on the 51st floor and a public viewing deck on the topmost level. The viewing deck will include an interactive museum featuring information about the creation of the skyscraper.

"The View at the Palm will combine awe-inspiring, breathtaking views with an interactive, educational experience," Omar Khoory, managing director of Nakheel, the developer behind the building, told CNN.

The pool, which is located almost 700 feet off the ground, presented some construction problems. Because of its altitude, construction crews had to contend with strong winds coming off the Persian Gulf.

Structural work on the pool is complete and the remainder of the construction is due to be finished by the end of the year.

The pool in Dubai will be one of the highest in the world, although not record-breaking. The current record holder for the highest infinity pool in the world belongs to the Hong Kong Ritz Carlton. Their infinity pool, located on the 118th floor of the hotel, is almost 1,600 feet above the street.

Even though Dubai may seem like it’s only new skyscraper after new skyscraper, the history of the city dates back far further than the oil boom of the ‘90s. If you’re visiting, balance out the super-modernity with a voyage to Dubai Creek, one of the oldest parts of Dubai, or one of the archaeological sites outside the city.
