For the discerning homeowner with a special interest in security, there’s a private castle for sale on Spain’s Costa del Sol — complete with a drawbridge.

“The castle is fully furnished with exquisite taste and decorated with antique and original features including a castle tower, gargoyles, drawbridge, stylish iron bars on windows, lordly lamps and armour,” according to the property listing.

But despite the fact that the castle looks like something out of the medieval ages, work on the property began only in 1997. Therefore it comes tricked out with modern luxuries. The $890,000 castle (€760,000) has four bedrooms and three bathrooms, all decorated in medieval-modern style.

There’s air conditioning and heating, a swimming pool, and a four-car garage.

The castle is surrounded by a 14,000-square-foot garden, where there’s a grass lawn, fruit trees, and shaded porch and barbecue areas.

From the top of the castle, there’s a 360-degree view of the Sierra Bermeja mountains and the nearby Playa del Saldillo beach on the Mediterranean Sea.

The current owner is selling the castle to move closer to his children, according to the Daily Mail, although the building was a lifelong dream. The castle took seven years to construct and was decorated with original pieces of history from Spain, including gargoyles, suits of armor, and swords from Toledo.

Because of its unique decoration, the castle has been used as the backdrop for several different film and photo shoots.

However, the property listing highlights the castle’s potential for vacation rentals. So perhaps those unable to shell out $890,000 right now can wait until the property is available for rent.
