Virgin Voyages Wants to Build a Party Scene in the Bahamas to Rival Ibiza
And if anyone can do it, it's Richard Branson.
Virgin Voyages is extending its brand beyond its upcoming cruise ships.
The soon-to-launch cruise line announced Thursday that it will build a beach club on the Bahamian island of Bimini.
“The Beach Club at Bimini” will be located a short distance away from the port and, while docked, Virgin Voyages passengers will have exclusive use of the space, Travel Weekly reported.
At the beach club, passengers (or “sailors” as the brand is calling them), will be able to party the day away or delve into the island’s culture. According to the cruise line, the beach club will launch a scene to rival the beach parties of Ibiza or Saint Tropez.
Renderings of the club show a menagerie of luxe hammocks and pavilions with chandeliers. A large, lagoon-style pool, with DJ booth at its head, will be the centerpiece of the club.
The ethos behind the club is one of detox and retox. Morning activities include yoga and meditation on the beach. Food menus (all complimentary) will include island-inspired cuisine like conch and mango salad, banana leaf-wrapped queen snapper and Bahamian rum cake.
Activities at the beach club will amp up throughout the day, reaching “the high point of the day by the afternoon where DJ-led pool and flotilla parties will be center of the action.” Come nightfall, it’s a laid-back ambiance with bonfires on the beach and acoustic musical performances.
The club is bringing some big names to the Bahamas. Mark Ronson — the DJ and producer behind hits like “Uptown Funk” — will be the founding DJ at the Beach Club and among the first to step behind the turntables with four performances in 2020.
Virgin Voyages trips from April 1 through October 21, 2020 are now open for booking.
