Princess Cruises Is Adding High-tech Escape Rooms on Board
A new digitally-enhanced escape room lets you travel through time and space.
Travelers taking a cruise with Princess Cruises will soon be able to experience the world’s first digitally enhanced escape room as the cruise line is introducing a new gaming experience on its Sky Princess and Enchanted Princess ships.
The experience, which is called Phantom Bridge, combines the adrenaline-pumping elements of an escape room challenge with digital features to fully immerse passengers in far-flung worlds and different time periods as they try to solve a range of puzzles.
While physical elements will still be a part of the game, they may often be hidden, and will be combined with digital elements like projection mapping, touch screen surfaces, and simulated views that transform the entire space into new environments and even “endangered time periods.”
Farbound, a leader in interactive gaming experiences, created the new attraction for the cruise line, giving guests the first chance to try out the new experience as early as this winter.
Phantom Bridge will debut on Sky Princess in December of 2019 and will later to arrive to Enchanted Princess in the summer of 2020. It will last 23 minutes and can accommodate up to six players at a time, though its range of more than 700 different possible outcomes for players means guests can keep playing for new thrills throughout their trip.
Phantom Bridge will be located on the Experience Center, which will be located on deck 18.
It is the latest Discovery at Sea interactive experience from the cruise line, which features everything from coral reef explorations and century-old ceremonies to deck stargazing and offshore excursions recommended by Discovery and Animal Planet.
