With a focus on extended stays in port and in-depth shore excursions, river cruising has become one of the most popular ways to travel. And for the first time, the industry is going after multi-generational travel—with little ones.

Adventures by Disney is partnering with luxury river cruise line AmaWaterways on five, seven-night European sailings, to be launched in 2016 on the brand new 160-passenger AmaViola. Four itineraries will hit the Danube River in July of 2016, and a holiday-themed cruise will sail in December 2016. Stops include destinations in Germany, Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary.

The ship was built with families in mind: think six sets of connecting staterooms and pull-out couches. Though the staff will be from AmaWaterways, eight Adventures by Disney guides will also be added to represent the Disney brand. The chef’s table will be transformed into an extra dining room, and kids menus will be available (as well as wines and more refined meals for the adults.)

Teens and tweens will love activities like relay games, movies, video games, and karaoke, all organized on ship. Off-shore excursions include a horse show at Hungary's Lazar Equestrian Park, a private marionette performance at Austria's Schonbrun Palace, and medieval-themed activities at a Slovakian castle. The sailings are geared for ages eight and up. From $4,200 per adult, $3,900 per child, all-inclusive.
