Disney Cruise Ship Adds New Orleans-themed Lounge After Making the City Their Home Port for 2020
Right around the time Mardi Gras colors start to fly in New Orleans, Disney Cruise Line will launch their first ship from the legendary port. The Disney Wonder is set to sail starting February 7, 2020 and already, the ship is being updated to match the local feel of its new home port.
The ship’s new French Quarter Lounge will celebrate the Disney film, “The Princess and the Frog,” which was set in New Orleans. The family-friendly lounge will have a gazebo stage for live music and New Orleans- and “The Princess and the Frog”-themed activities like trivia, character encounters, and an impressive life-size trolley car. The new lounge will complement the already established onboard restaurant, Tiana’s Place, where guests gather to enjoy live jazz and southern cooking.
In addition to the new lounge, the Disney Wonder is opening a redesigned, adults-only cafe — the Cove Cafe — and an updated space for teens. For the latter, the Vibe club will feature a new coffee bar and virtual reality technology.
The ship’s updated decor and facilities will debut during Disney Wonder’s four-night sailing from Vancouver to San Diego on September 30. Then, starting February 2020, the ship will sail to the Western Caribbean and The Bahamas from its new home port in New Orleans.
