Which city gets the most and least sleep? You'll be surprised to know that New York City is actually not the city that never sleeps—New Yorkers sleep an average of six hours and 47 minutes, according to a study by Jawbone, the maker of the fitness wristband Up. Other surprising news: Tokyo is the city that gets the least amount of Z's, with an average night sleep coming in at five hours and 44 minutes. Melbourne residents are the best sleepers, catching about six hours and 58 minutes. Now, that's a lot of REM sleep, but it's still one hour less than the recommended eight hours.
Meanwhile, many early risers call Brisbane their hometown; locals wake up at 6:29 a.m. on average, while Moscow is the latest to bed, typically pulling up the covers around 12:46 a.m. (That's probably because Eastern Europe's party scene has a reputation for going strong all night, sometimes until 6-7 a.m.)
