NYC’s Latest Beauty Hotspot: Paintbox Nail Studio
As a frequent flier, I’m always searching for the perfect place to get a last-minute manicure—one that will actually stay on through the course of my trip. And on the flip side, as a tourist, I’m always searching for a cool, reliable, (and yes, clean!) nail salon when I need a quick touch-up abroad. Enter Paintbox, a chic new manicure studio in Manhattan's Soho neighborhood that is quickly developing a cult following among locals—and which should be on every traveler’s radar.
Founder Eleanor Langston, a former beauty editor, is taking nail art to a new level by including runway trends (hello polka dots and silver-foil-covered pastels) in Paintbox’s extensive menu of 25 designs in 50 shades (both traditional polish and gel are available). What I love most: the warehouse-like space is calming; you’re welcomed with a glass of champagne or local Grady’s Cold Brew coffee; and there’s a digitalphoto booth for you to email snapshots of your new look to friends (or Instagram immediately after, as I did!). And five days later, as I’m about to take off for a work trip to L.A., there’s not a chip in sight.
