Few brand names evoke the essence of pure luxury as much as Bentley. Each element of a Bentley car is considered from every angle, from the sleek exterior lines to the sumptuous interiors and, of course, the powerful engine. But, the steep price tags and limited availability mean opportunities to sit behind the wheel of one of these luxurious machines are difficult to come by. This fall, Bentley is opening up the doors to its rarified world through different road trips across the British countryside, giving travelers the opportunity to drive its fantastic cars and see the world through its elegant eye.

On a recent trip in upstate New York, we had the opportunity to experience a stylish trip behind the wheel of a Bentley. First up: the cars. Bentley introduced us to the 2022 fleet, including the Continental GT, Flying Spur, and Bentayga. A Bentley marries quiet luxury with pure power, a rare combination. Some sports cars aren’t pleasant to drive, while other luxury vehicles don’t get your heart racing. Bentley manages to do both.

We hopped in the cars in Manhattan for an adrenaline-fueled ride upstate. Despite the rainy day — Bentley seemed to have brought British weather with it — the drive was a dream thanks to the powerful engines and smooth handling. We drove up to Cedar Lakes Estate, a private oasis in the Hudson Valley, through winding roads in rural New York. The elegant resort is dotted with charming cottages and has plenty of space for group activities. On a driving trip like this, a certain camaraderie develops between the guests. Everyone wants to share their driving experience or hop into someone else’s car to get a taste of driving a different model, so fabulous public spaces are a necessity.

That evening, Bentley hosted a dinner with its partner, The Macallan (a fellow U.K. luxury brand). Ambassadors from The Macallan were on hand to lead guests through tastings of some of its rare whisky expressions, including the new Macallan Harmony Collection Rich Cacao, with interactive aroma experiences and fabulous cocktails, too. Finally, everyone sat down to a farm-to-table dinner with fantastic whisky pairings.

The British road trips draw on elements of this experience, including The Macallan pairing, but take it to the next level. The trip begins in Crewe, England, which is home to the Bentley factory. Here, guests will have the opportunity to step behind closed doors and tour the factory, seeing all of the craftsmanship elements that make a Bentley unique. That evening, Bentley will host a truly special dinner within the heart of the factory.

The following morning, the adventure truly begins. Guests will drive one of Bentley’s latest vehicles through the picturesque British countryside, stopping at historic sites for breaks and for lunch at a Michelin-starred restaurant, Northcote, then overnight at the idyllic Middleton Lodge, a Georgian country estate set on 200 acres.

Wake up the next day with a private yoga session to stretch your legs before hopping in the car again for one of the most beautiful drives of the trip. You’ll cross into Scotland and pass scenic vistas, lush hills, historic buildings, and elegant manors. That evening, you’ll feel as if you have stepped into another world at The Treehouses at Lanrick. True to its name, you’ll stay in a tree house perched among the treetops, but with all the luxury amenities you’d expect from a trip with Bentley. The accommodations are on the edge of Trossachs National Park, so it has dark skies perfect for stargazing. Scotland’s Royal Astronomer, Catherine Heyman, will lead a guided stargazing session you’ll never forget.

The fourth day brings you to The Macallan Estate in Speyside, Scotland. Here, you’ll visit the award-winning distillery and indulge in a delectable meal, guided tastings, and a private experience in the distillery. That evening, there will be a special dining experience at the on-site restaurant, Elchies Brasserie, which celebrates the bounty of Scotland with dishes including local seafood, venison, and beef, all paired with special expressions from The Macallan. Finally, it’s time to head home. You can catch a return flight from Aberdeen airport, or continue the luxurious trip by returning to London on the beautiful Caledonia Sleeper train from Inverness.

There are two bookable Bentley road trips this fall: The first is Oct. 31 to Nov. 4 and the second is Nov. 21 to 25. To book your trip, visit Bentley online. Tickets for the full experience, sans airfare, start at £11,350 (approximately $13,160) a person.
