Margot Bigg Margot Bigg is a freelance journalist with more than a decade of experience writing about travel, India, hospitality, and music. Her work has appeared in numerous outlets, including National Geographic, Rolling Stone India, Travel + Leisure, Lonely Planet, Vice, Robb Report, Sunset magazine, United Airlines’ Hemispheres, Time Out, The Oregonian, The Hindustan Times, The Times of India, and The Indian Express. Having lived in India for several years, Margot has written guidebooks about the country, including the “Moon Living Abroad in India,” “Moon Taj Mahal, Delhi & Jaipur,” and “Moon Spotlight Delhi.” She is the co-author of “Fodor's Essential India,” “Fodor's Oregon,” and “Fodor's Pacific Northwest.”Although Margot has been writing professionally since college, she began her travel writing career in 2008, as a deputy editor at Time Out in India. While living in New Delhi, she also worked as an adjunct professor of applied journalism at Sri Aurobindo Centre for Arts & Communication where she taught post-graduate courses in travel writing, feature writing, and reporting for nearly three years. After moving back to the U.S. in 2012, Margot worked as a content strategist at the travel-focused tech startup GetGoing and then as a contributing analyst for Skift. As a former hotel reviewer for Oyster.com, she has stayed at dozens of hotels in Asia, Europe, and North America, from sprawling beachfront resorts to boutique jungle lodges. Margot grew up in Portland, Oregon, and Surrey, England, and is a British-American dual national. She has called Paris, London, Bath, and New Delhi home, but she currently lives in Portland.
