Jeanine Barone Jeanine Barone is an internationally recognized journalist with more than two decades of experience covering travel, wellness, food, wine, art, design, architecture, and more. Her articles have appeared in just about every major travel magazine, from National Geographic Traveler to Virtuoso Life, as well as newspapers including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and the Boston Globe. Jeanine often travels the world actively — hiking, Nordic skiing, or bicycling to off-the-beaten-path cafés, under-the-radar art galleries, or overlooked wine bars. Her path to becoming a travel writer was anything but typical. She started out as a biologist and then taught biology on all grade levels, from elementary school to college. After continuing her studies with a double master's in nutrition and exercise physiology, she became a health and fitness writer, contributing to major lifestyle magazines. Passionate about blending travel and wellness, she eventually began exploring the U.S. and international destinations by bicycle (including pedaling from Seattle to San Diego and from New York City to Montreal). Along the way, she decided to start finding and crafting great stories. Today, she also dabbles in art and screenwriting, as well as designing jewelry, fashion, and travel products.• 20+ years of experience as a freelance travel, lifestyle, and wellness journalist• Has traveled to 90+ countries• Co-author of food and fitness book “The Yum Factor: Changing Your Attitudes Toward Food & Fitness”• Received a bachelor's degree in biology from Barnard College• Received a master's degree in nutrition and exercise physiology from Columbia University About Travel + Leisure Travel + Leisure, a Dotdash Meredith Brand, is a top travel media brand with a mission to inform and inspire passionate travelers.
