Casey Hatfield-Chiotti is a journalist and photographer with more than a decade of experience producing travel, food, and lifestyle articles. She has contributed to The New York Times, Travel + Leisure, Robb Report, Airbnb, Afar, Virgin Atlantic, Sunset, and Bon Appétit. Casey began her career in broadcast news, covering crime, politics, and economic development in Oregon and Idaho before taking time off to travel. While backpacking in Argentina, she was inspired to combine her love of exploring the world with her reporting background. Since then, she’s contributed hundreds of articles to top outlets, covering everything from the ultimate croissant crawl in Paris to the Mayan farmers who produce heirloom ingredients in their backyards for one of the world’s best restaurants. In addition to being a freelance writer and photographer, she is a contributing editor and client services manager at Marin Living Magazine and runs Travel Proper, a blog geared toward travelers interested in food, wine, adventure, and family travel.
