Carolyn B. Heller

Carolyn B. Heller is a freelance writer, storyteller, and photographer with more than 25 years of experience covering travel, food, and culture. She is the author of three Canada travel guides for Moon and has contributed to more than 50 other travel and restaurant guides to international destinations for Zagat/Google, Moon/Avalon, Lonely Planet, Fodor's, and Sasquatch Books, among others. In addition to travel guides, her work has appeared in leading publications such as Travel + Leisure, Time, Lonely Planet, Roadtrippers, TripSavvy, Vegetarian Times, Forbes Travel Guide, Atlas Obscura, Montecristo Magazine, and many others. Carolyn began her travel writing career in Boston in the 1990s after a decade of working in marketing and business development. One of her first gigs was at OnTheRoad.com, where she created and managed an online city guide to Boston for business travelers. From 2000 to 2003, she was a Boston editor at Zagat and wrote three editions of the Zagat Boston Restaurant guide, covering nearly 1,000 eateries in Boston, Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket. Since then, her passion for immersive cultural and culinary travel has taken her to more than 50 countries on six continents, but she also frequently writes about her adopted country of Canada. After calling Boston home for more than 20 years, she and her family relocated to Vancouver, where she can frequently be found running along the seawall, snacking in one of the city's Asian noodle shops, and planning her next adventure.
