These Zoo Live Cams Let You Hang Out With Pandas, Giraffes, and Other Adorable Animals All Day Long (Video)

The coronavirus may have us all safely social distancing and staying home, but that doesn’t mean we have to stop experiencing the world around us. You can still “go out” — all it takes is an internet connection to do so.

Museums and cultural centers around the nation are coming together to help fill our entertainment void during these rather unsettling times. In fact, these 12 famous museums offer virtual tours you can take on your couch, the MET Opera is offering free nightly shows, and you can even "escape" to a national park online.

Thankfully, zoos are getting in on the action too and providing people with adorable animal live streams that will surely calm frayed nerves and entertain kids sent home from school for hours on end.

And really, these cute animal live streams may be just the thing we all need right now, especially if you just started working from home for the very first time.

In 2012, psychological scientists at Hiroshima University in Japan conducted three experiments with 132 university students to understand their response to adorable images of animals. The team concluded, taking a beak and looking at cute animal images may actually improve someone’s work performance on detail-oriented tasks.

“This study shows that viewing cute things improves subsequent performance in tasks that require behavioral carefulness, possibly by narrowing the breadth of attentional focus,” lead researcher Hiroshi Nittono wrote about the findings.

Pyschological Science further explained, this study suggests that those adorable images may help people shift their attention to focus on details as humans think of themselves as caregivers. And caregivers must pay “careful attention to their mental and physical wellbeing, as well as potential vigilance against any possible threats.”

Long story short, it’s okay to watch these streams with or without your kids whenever you’d like.
