JIf there’s one thing that Matthew McConaughey loves as much as starring in Lincoln ads and playing conga drums naked, it’s the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics. Out of the celebrities that have showed face at the Olympics so far, including Eddie Redmayne and Gisele, none have been more enthusiastic than McConaughey. Shouting, grinning, pointing and posing for selfies with fans, the actor was first spotted in the audience alone, but was later joined by his wife, Camila Alves, supporting the U.S. Olympic Swimming, Rugby and Basketball teams.
It’s no surprise that McConaughey is a huge sports fan, aside from portraying former Marshall University football coach Jack Lengyel in the drama We Are Marshall, the actor notably gave a motivational pep talk in his home state of Texas to the Texas Longhorns in 2014, relating his acting experiences to sports. “I found that when I’ve done my best work as an actor,” McConaughey told the Longhorns, “It was only when I pushed myself to be better than I even thought I could be.”
