Edge, which rises some 1,100 feet above the street, is officially the highest outdoor sky deck in the Western Hemisphere. It extends nearly 80 feet out from the 100th floor of 30 Hudson Yards, and even comes with a glass-bottom floor so visitors can get a little adrenaline rush as they walk out into the sky. Courtesy of Related-Oxford To get to the deck, guests take a 52-second elevator, which opens to the 7,500 square foot outdoor viewing area, complete with glass windows showing off the gorgeous 360-degree views of New York City’s skyline. Guests can even catch a glimpse of New Jersey and New York State thanks to the high vantage point. Don’t worry, it’s completely safe. The entire deck is made up of 15 sections of glass, each weighing between 35,000 and 100,000 pounds. They are all bolted together and anchored to the side of the building. Designed by KPF and the Rockwell Group, Edge’s sky deck includes that aforementioned glass floor along with a nine-foot-tall angled glass wall so those daring enough can lean out over the island of Manhattan. After letting their stomach settle, guests can then head to the 101st floor to eat at the building’s signature restaurant and bar, Peak, where they can enjoy a glass of champagne or a handcrafted cocktail, which guests can also take outside to enjoy with the view. Courtesy of Related-Oxford Beyond the observation deck, there’s still plenty of things for people to see and do, including shopping and dining at one of the 100 shops and culinary experiences inside Hudson Yards, and even the brand-new Equinox, which comes with an outdoor heated pool. Edge is now open from 8 a.m. to midnight each and every day. Tickets start at $36 for adults and can be purchased at edgenyc.com. Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback! Tell us why!
