Take it for a virtual spin.
Europe’s fastest, and perhaps most impressive, roller coaster is finally ready for thrill-seekers everywhere to jump on board.
Ferrari Land, the largest project for PortAventura World, about an hour outside of Barcelona, is set to open its doors on April 7 and allow guests to enjoy its 11 attractions, including an immersive Ferrari Experience and Red Force, a terrifying, 367-foot roller coaster that takes riders from 0 to 112 mph in just five seconds.
The heart-stopping ride was designed to emulate the experience of a Formula 1 race car driver, right down to the signature Ferrari red, race car-shaped carriages. To see what it's like firsthand, check out the video above.
Luis Carlos Valencia, PortAventura's development manager, told MailOnline the building process for the coaster had “been an operation of almost surgical precision, only possible under optimal wind conditions.”
Spain’s version of the ride falls just shy of the world’s fastest coaster, which can be found at Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi. That coaster reaches a top speed of 149 mph.
And while the coaster is certainly the main attraction, it’s not the only ride worth visiting in the 750,000-square-foot park. As The Sun reports, the Racing Legends ride brings famous circuits into hyperrealism via a simulator that allows visitors to drive a Ferrari through the streets of Rome, while the Flying Dreams attraction takes riders back in time and around the world to test out the brand’s most iconic cars.
For those looking for a more peaceful and relaxing time, the resort also boasts five themed hotels, three golf courses, and a beach club to help calm frazzled post-coaster nerves.
