Get ready to explore 1.5 million square feet of fun.
Dubai will be opening IMG Worlds of Adventure, the world’s largest indoor theme park at a staggering 1.5 million square feet in size, on August 31.
Hosting rides, movie screenings, live performances, shopping venues, and dining options, the fully air-conditioned space will provide an alternative for those looking to escape the city’s intense heat, which can soar well above 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the months of June, July, and August.
Visitors can expect themed zones that range from Marvel attractions based off of popular superheroes like The Hulk and Iron Man to a Cartoon Network zone housing attractions from shows like “Adventure Time.”
Those looking to take a step back in time can visit the Lost Valley, which houses dinosaur-themed attractions, before sampling gourmet popcorn and Indian cuisine at the IMG Boulevard.
Recently, several Persian Gulf states have been looking to theme parks to promote and drive their tourism. Saudi Arabia has been in communication with Six Flags to open a new theme park, while Dubai is also opening a competitor backed by Dubai Parks and Resorts later this year and a Fox-branded theme park in 2020.
The city is estimated to raise around $837 million in revenue from theme parks by 2019, according to reports earlier this year from Forbes, as it aims to bridge a gap in the market that has forced many travelers to head to the far east or far west to enjoy amusement parks.
IMG Worlds of Adventure will be open Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
