'Rent' Returns to New York City with $25 Tickets to Celebrate 20th Anniversary
Pulitzer prize-winning musical 'Rent' will hit the stage again—but not on Broadway this time. The Secret Theatre in Long Island City is the lucky venue, hosting nine performances running September 23rd-27th. The new dates are an early celebration of the musical's 20th anniversary since its debut (way back on January 25th, 1996).
According to Playbill, the 5th Floor Theatre Company is behind the production—the same group that produced Assassins, Debbie Does Dallas, Urinetown, and Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead. The cast includes Bernard Holcomb as Collins, Mia Johnson as Joanne, Lindsay Lavin as Maureen, Nina Negron as Mimi, André Revels as Benny, Dan Rosenbaum as Roger, Daniel Clayton Smith as Mark, and Anthony Wright as Angel, with musical direction by Andy Peterson and directed by Nick Brennan.
Shows will run daily at 8pm, with matinee performances on September 26th and 27th at 3pm. Student tickets are running at $20 and general admission for $25. For more information on the show and how to get your ticket, check out the 5th Floor Company website.
