Polo Star Nacho Figueras’ Travel Essentials
The glamorous face of polo reveals what's in his carry-on.
Nacho Figueras is polo’s answer to David Beckham. The pro player is just as comfortable astride a horse hitting the game-winning goal for his Black Watch team as he is in front of the cameras modeling for major designers. The handsome Argentinian rose to fame playing in the Hamptons, where he was also discovered by famed photographer Bruce Weber at a dinner party. Currently the face of Ralph Lauren fragrance and married to photographer and model Delfina Blaquier, the jet-setting father of four often travels with his picture-perfect family in tow.
We caught up with Figueras at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic at Liberty State Park in New Jersey on his way to Santa Barbara and St. Tropez to get his travel musts.
Playing polo isn’t the only thing Figueras relies on to break a sweat while he’s globetrotting—he’s also an avid jogger. “I always pack my Nike Zoom Wildhorse sneakers with me so I can get in a run.” From $90
His secret to staying connected while traveling internationally? WhatsApp Messenger. “It works faster than email, and it’s not so formal,” he says. Bonus: unlike traditional text messaging, it can be used over Wi-Fi without incurring roaming charges. Free
For long flights, Beats by Dre Studio Wireless headphones are always in his carry on because they’re “very comfortable to travel with” and sync with Bluetooth. On his playlist: the Rolling Stones, Coldplay, and Frank Sinatra. $380
His newest toy: Apple Watch, so he can answer phone calls from the practice field (stardom has it’s privileges.) From $549
What does the model and athlete eat on the road? Mac and cheese from the kids menu. “My favorite!”
To beat jet lag and look camera ready he drinks the caffeinated tea, yerba mate, a national obsession in Argentina. “We drink it in mornings, during the day, at the barn. It’s very healthy!”
