Las Vegas's Outdoor Ice Rink (Yes, Really) Opens Next Month
The weather in Vegas may not be frightful, but an ice rink in the middle of the desert is always delightful. To heighten the magic, the Cosmopolitan is planning regular themed events, including manmade snow flurries every Wednesday through Sunday between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Come on Mondays for a couples skate—and extend the date beyond the rink during viewings of classic holiday and ice-skating movies like A Christmas Story, Blades of Glory, and It’s A Wonderful Life, which the Cosmopolitan will be screening on their 65-foot marquee. For the ultimate romantic date night, you can even reserve a spot by the fire pit and roast s’mores (but you’ll have to bring your own chestnuts).
On Industry Nights, Las Vegas DJs will take over the sound system and turn the rink into a nightclub. And on Throwback Thursdays skaters can practice their figure eights while rocking out to the music of the ’80s.
For a sneak peek, buy a ticket for Ice Out Cancer Over Vegas, which takes over the rink on November 20. Presented by the Cosmopolitan and Olympic gold medalist Scott Hamilton’s CARES Foundation as part of Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, the event will feature performances by Hamilton and many other world-class skaters. Guests will have an opportunity to skate with the pros while helping to raise money for a good cause.
