The European Stationary Wave Riding Championship Will Be Held in An Airport
What better way to beat the stress of an unorderly security line than with a bit of indoor surfing?
The Munich Airport will once again offer its annual summer Surf & Style event from July 31st to August 23rd. Both beginners and experienced surfers will have the opportunity to test out the waves free of charge (as long as you've got a valid ID!).
Wave riders of eight years and older will be able to try the set-up during free surfing periods throughout the day. Beginners will take to the water with help from a support bar twice daily from 3pm to 3:45pm and from 6pm to 6:45pm. Professional instructors will also be available during these times to offer guidance. You must register two days in advance for a spot, starting July 29th.
Younger wave riders looking to pick up some skills will be able to partake in a three-day camp featuring one, one-hour session every day. The camp costs $17 per camper and each session will be made up of ten students. There will be three different levels available: Beginners, Advanced Surfers, and Pros. At the end of the session, campers will have the opportunity to register for the Rookie Contest, which takes place on August 23rd.
If you're looking to see how the real pros tackle the waves, don't miss the Stationary Wave Riding European Championships at the airport from August 14th-16th. You can find more information on the event here.
