The Top Chef contestant and her cohosts at The Chew set to headline at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival.
The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is always pretty epic, but this year’s event, which begins on September 25, promises to be even bigger than usual. Walt Disney World announced this week that to mark the festival’s 20th anniversary it will expand outside of the park’s World Showcase for the first time with four new marketplaces in Future World. Even more interesting, two of those marketplaces are in partnership with ABC’s daytime series The Chew, which will also film a week’s worth of episodes at Disney World.
This is the first time The Chew—co-hosted by Mario Batali, Carla Hall, Michael Symon, Clinton Kelly, and Daphne Oz—will tape episodes outside of its Manhattan studios. According to the announcement that the hosts made earlier this month, the show will tape from October 7 to 9 for episodes that will air the following week. Segments will explore the various restaurants at Walt Disney World and offer highlights from the Epcot festival.
The TV show will also have two related marketplaces at the festival, the Chew Lab and the Sustainable Chew marketplace. The Chew Lab, the announcement notes, will be “inspired by food-science labs and the hottest culinary tech trends,” so you can expect dishes made with gels and molds and whatever else the food-science nerds are up to these days. Meanwhile, Sustainable Chew will use produce from Epcot’s own greenhouses to create three different dishes endorsed by the show’s hosts, such as pork spareribs with red wine and fennel, or ricotta and zucchini ravioli with tomato sauce.
While they’re in town taping, The Chew cast will also host an event called the Rockin’ Burger Block Party. Slated for October 8, the party will be a burger-and-slider-filled extravaganza complete with burger recipes inspired by musical artists Dave Matthews and Carlos Santana and the wines and tequila that they hawk. (Dreaming Tree Wines and Casa Noble Tequila, respectively.) There will be two more burger parties, sans The Chew cast, during the festival as well on September 25 and November 6.
But beyond The Chew, the Epcot festival is also rolling out two other new marketplaces in Future World: the Cheese Studio and the Wine Studio. These are mostly pretty self-explanatory, though it’s interesting to note that the cheese at the cheese studio will be served on an artist’s palette, and the wine at the wine studio will be available on tap. The festival’s wine shop will also be selling the two wines made for specifically for the festival’s 20th anniversary: a chardonnay from Napa Valley and a Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles.
As always, the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival will take place over an extended period of time, from September 25 to November 16. Tickets for The Chew’s live taping in Orlando are already sold out, but tickets for The Chew hosts’ stint at the burger bash will open on July 30, with details available on the official website.
