A Drone Captured the Singular Beauty of L.A.'s Neon Signs
The only silver lining to sitting in traffic in Los Angeles is that it gives you time to admire the neon signs that dot the city’s skyline. Now, thanks to a beautiful drone video, neon fans can bask in the retro illuminated signs far from the roads that crisscross the city.
Filmmaker Drew Ganyer sent up a drone to document the signs that decorate historic spots like the Hotel Normandie, the Ansonia, and the Royale Wilshire in all their glowing glory.
The video is beautiful in its own right, but it also serves as a lasting testament to the neon signs before they disappear completely, like their counterparts in New York City and San Francisco, which are dwindling away as business owners opt for cheaper signs (and lower electric bills).
