Not one to be pigeonholed, Mike Solomonov runs a mini-empire of awesome restaurants specializing in everything from hummus to fried chicken and donuts, though he is best known for Zahav. There, in a quiet Society Hill enclave, the Israeli-American chef turns out superb mezze fit for a family-style feast, though his other restaurants, Dizengoff, Abe Fisher, Percy Street Barbecue, and Federal Donuts, should be on every foodie’s radar too. In advance of his first cookbook, Zahav: A World of Israeli Cooking, set to come out on October 6, he shares his take on Philadelphia’s culinary scene in five meals.

Breakfast:

High Street on Market has a bread called Anadama. I get it fresh with butter and coffee. It’s the best breakfast in the city.

Lunch:

Stock is owned by Tyler Akin and Nicole Reigle Akin (two Zahav alums). Pho is my favorite thing to eat for lunch and they make some of the best. It's a small, beautiful restaurant in Fishtown and they serve classic no fuss, super flavorful pho.

Dinner:

Vernick Food & Drink is a classic dinner spot. The service is amazing, and Greg is one of the best chefs in Philly. Everything on toast is ridiculous, and he has a special way with fish.

Late Night:

Café Soho has the best Korean wings ever! I will drive there after work with my crew and we crush wings. Just thinking about it makes me hungry.

Brunch:

Talula’s Daily has a great setting and amazing food. They have killer breakfast sandwiches, which are really the perfect combination of breakfast and lunch.
