Zissimos’ family-owned company, Hellenic Holidays, has been operating since 1972, and his singular focus ensures clients are getting the best of the best. “Offering only one destination only allows me to continuously hone my craft,” Zissimos explains. Recently, he’s noticed an uptick in clients asking for food-focused trips — and has responded accordingly, developing farm tours and culinary experiences. For one couple’s 35th-anniversary trip, Zissimos surprised the two in Crete, sending a local grandmother to escort them on a farmer’s market shopping excursion, then to an 18th-century farmhouse for a private cooking lesson. Another client decided mid-vacation that it was time to pop the question to his girlfriend — and called Zissimos for help. The following evening, the pair was escorted to a private beach for a multicourse meal with cocktails, candles galore, and live music to set the mood. “It was special and humbling that he allowed us to plan such a life changing event,” Zissimos says.
