Clifford crafts active itineraries that get LGBTQ travelers off the beaten path, whether that means snowmobiling and heli-skiing in Iceland (with stays at Deplar Farm and Eldar Lodge) or tracking howler monkeys and jaguars in Belize, with a home base at the Coppola family–owned Blancaneaux Lodge.

Some of his favorite properties as of late? "Last summer I fell in love with the reborn, iconic property The Claremont Hotel on Mount Desert Island, Maine. After a thoughtful restoration, they opened up two fantastic homes to rent on site, Harbor Rose and Ocean House," he shares.

Further afield, he's been impressed with Habitas Santa Teresa, in Costa Rica. "I love to suggest this cool surf town on the very edge of the Nicoya Peninsula."

Testimonial

"Knowing my sensibility as an interior designer to all things beautiful and artistic, John arranged an extraordinary trip to Trancoso and Rio de Janeiro, followed by Buenos Aires. The arts, music, and natural habitat are a wonderland of inspiration, and I came home with fascinating pieces of art and vivid memories. John's attention to detail and communication were professional and personal; and a highlight was an invitation to attend an exclusive New Year's Eve party in Rio, high above Copacabana overlooking the millions of celebrants on the beach below. With the amount of traveling I do, I'm very appreciative of John Clifford's expertise every step of the way." – Keith B.
