Travel + Leisure A List Travel Agent Guy Rubin

Guy Rubin

Rubin adds personalized moments to his journeys across China. For example, he once arranged private studio visits for a client with the Shanghai-based artists Chen Wenbo and Li Shan — two of the traveler’s favorite contemporary painters. As far as trends that Rubin feels are gaining traction, he recently met a Fujianese rice wine maker that “has opened a great little rice wine bar in Beijing,” he says. “As a result, we have introduced rice wine tasting to our tours, and are planning to follow this up with more revelry that focuses both on the increasing use of Chinese spirits in cocktails and the rise of micro-breweries in Beijing and Shanghai. For example the largest microbrewery in Asia is based in Beijing.” Family trips have also been more popular: “This is our fastest growing segment. We are responding to this by booking experiences such as culinary tours, panda immersion experiences, ping pong lessons, arts and crafts activities, and martial arts (either lessons or demonstrations).”

"I have nothing but kudos for Guy Rubin and Imperial tours. Guy and his staff are extremely professional and provided almost immediate responses to my questions and possible changes in itinerary. From the planning, traveling, and return with follow-ups, Guy and his company made sure that everything was as we requested. Even when our ship was delayed six hours, his staff was in constant communication with me and planning tour adjustments to make sure we didn't miss anything. The tour was more than we ever expected. The Imperial Moments were unusual, educational, thought provoking, and fun. Our entire group, as well as myself, have nothing but praise for Guy Rubin and Imperial Tours." - Janey Marbach
