Travel + Leisure

Though it’s less famous than nearby Taos Ski Valley, Angel Fire has developed into one of the Southwest’s premier winter-sports destinations. Nestled in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the alpine resort offers 74 trails for skiers and snowboarders—and sleigh rides for the less actively inclined. It’s also a playground in the summer, with mountain biking, an 18-hole PGA Championship golf course, horseback riding, and more.
