For an out-of-the-way destination wedding—or just an anniversary weekend—Captiva Island is an idyllic bolt-hole. Blissfully, it lacks the flash of Florida’s many other beach resorts. Stroll the undeveloped dunes of Captiva (which are far less crowded than sister Sanibel), savor the day’s catch, and watch the sunset.

The Mucky Duck

This pub on Captiva Island spills out onto the beach. There’s a modest menu of light fare, but our advice is to eat ahead. Instead, order a cold brew, settle into a wood beach chair, and watch the sun set while looking out at the Gulf of Mexico.

Chapel by the Sea

The more than 100-year-old chapel is open for weddings and vow renewals most days 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Keylime Bistro

The jazz brunch is rollicking good fun.

Captiva Island Inn

In addition to free bike rentals, the property has a range of accommodations—from a five-bedroom house (a.k.a. the Love Shack) to a cozy en suite room decked out in Old Florida florals and whitewashed antiques.
