Once a blank canvas between Beverly Hills and Venice, the industrial spaces of Culver City have been turned into an art colony rivaling Santa Monica’s Bergamot Station and L.A.’s Chinatown. Besides more established galleries like Blum & Poe and outsider champion Billy Shire Fine Arts, Culver City has acquired a number of new, sensationally idiosyncratic venues. Care to stay? The 1924 Culver Hotel, six stories of brick Renaissance Revival, is where the Munchkins holed up while filming The Wizard of Oz.
