We all have special places from our teenage years that we love to visit and relive our memories. For most of us, those places just aren't quite as glam as the Hôtel de Crillon in Paris.
Before a Paris Fashion Week presentation, 28-year-old actress Lily Collins revealed that she made time for a visit to the Hôtel de Crillon, her old stomping grounds, for a dose of nostalgia.
When she was 18 years old, Collins made her societal debut at the Crillon Ball, the hotel’s annual (and illustrious) debutante ball. Past debutantes also include Lauren Bush Lauren, Dree Hemingway, and Talulah Willis.
The hotel reopened after a four-year renovation this summer, and Collins stopped in to visit.
"I was walking in and saying to my friends, ‘That’s where I was presented, that’s where I walked down the stairs, that’s where I got stuck in the elevator with my dress,'" she told W Magazine. "It’s such a special place. Time goes by so fast; I feel really lucky to be back here."
After her whirlwind tour of the Hôtel de Crillon, Collins ventured to the Palais de Justice to vie Givenchy’s Spring 2018 collection. It was the first time that the historic 19th-century building, on Paris’s Île de la Cité, was used for a fashion show. Other front row attendees included Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, and Julianne Moore.
For this visit, Collins stayed at the Hôtel Le Bristol, a top choice for A-listers passing through Paris that's located just off the Champs-Elysees. The hotel was also used as a main filming location in Woody Allen’s “Midnight in Paris.”
But just because she’s famous doesn’t mean Collins is immune to Paris’s charm. Like the rest of us, she’s awestruck by the Eiffel Tower and always makes a point to get out of her car and stare.
"We get out, and watch it sparkle, and I just like to stand there, looking at it," she told W Magazine. "It's so special and so beautiful. Paris is such a magical place."
