A United passenger caused a diverted flight after creating a stinky situation in the plane toilet.
A United Airlines flight was diverted on Thursday after a passenger spread poop all over the plane's bathrooms.
United Flight 895 traveling from Chicago to Hong Kong made an unscheduled landing in Anchorage due to a "passenger smearing feces everywhere," Ted Stevens International Airport Police told CBS affiliate KTVA.
Airport police said the passenger, an adult male, smeared the feces throughout "a couple" of bathrooms and also took off his shirt and tried to shove it in one toilet.
In a statement to the Washington Post, United said the flight made the unscheduled stop because of "a disruptive passenger." According to the airline, the passenger cooperated with the fight crew and was interviewed by authorities upon landing. Police told KTVA the man underwent a psych evaluation at a hospital and that no charges were filed.
The United Flight was grounded overnight in Anchorage for maintenance, KTVA reports. United provided the 245 passengers with hotel accommodations and worked with passengers to reschedule their travel. The flight was scheduled to depart Anchorage on Friday.
