Things just keep getting worse for Meghan Markle and her family in the days before the royal wedding.
On Thursday, Samantha Markle, Meghan’s older half-sister, was hospitalized after she reportedly broke her ankle and fractured her knee in a car crash.
According to Samantha’s boyfriend Mark, who spoke to TMZ, the accident happened as the paparazzi were chasing them through the streets of Florida.
Mark told TMZ a photographer veered in front of them as he attempted to get a clear photograph of the pair. Mark then swerved to the left in an attempt to avoid the photographer, but hit a concrete barrier instead.
Mark added that the maneuver caused Samantha to hit the windshield and fall onto the floor mat below. He said the photographer then fled the scene.
Samantha is not invited to the royal wedding. She, along with Meghan’s half-brother and extended family, have been extremely vocal in the press about their missing invites. However, while they weren’t invited, one person who was sent an invitation will sadly not be present: Meghan’s father, Thomas.
In early May, Kensington Palace announced that Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, would indeed be a part of the couple’s wedding day. At the event, the palace said, he would walk his daughter down the aisle.
However, just days before the wedding, Thomas announced he would no longer take part in the wedding. Then, one day after that announcement he said he would actually try to attend as he wanted to be “a part of history.” However, just one day after that second announcement, Thomas said he had to officially back out due to a heart condition, which required emergency surgery.
“Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health,” Meghan said via a statement released by Kensington Palace. “I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday.”
