It will reward the platform's "best guests."
For many travelers, booking an Airbnb feels as necessary to the trip-planning process as picking a destination — and a new feature will soon reward these devoted users.
The home share platform announced Thursday that it's adding a loyalty program that will treat "its best guests" to "benefits across the entire trip." Details about the program, called Superguest, are sparse at the moment, but a release from Airbnb says a pilot version will be available to 10,000 members this summer and to the wider user base by the end of 2018.
Airbnb also has a loyalty program for frequent hosts called, aptly, Superhost. Hosts with a 4.8 rating or above, at least a 90% response rate, 10 or more stays a year, and zero cancellations are eligible for the program, which gives hosts more visibility on the site and early access to new programs. The company said in the release that it will soon add new benefits to the Superhost program as well.
In addition to the new "super" programs, the company's announcement mentioned a handful of added booking features and property types. The site will soon roll out new property classifications — vacation home, unique, boutique and bed and breakfast — and a "Collections" feature that filters accommodations by travelers' specific needs.
The company will also add an "Airbnb Plus" tier, which includes homes that have been verified for quality and comfort, and a "Beyond" tier for luxury trips.
