2 Railroad Ave.
York Beach, ME, 03910, United States
TEL: (207) 363-2621

This candy store and restaurant has been a pillar of the Cape Neddick area since 1896, thanks mainly to their homemade saltwater taffy, fudge, and other sweets, all prepared in full view of the customers. Founder E.A. Talpey’s Classic Kiss features a Maine molasses base and goldenrod-hued wrapper, and Goldenrod has added many more flavors of taffy over the years, including blueberry, strawberry, and licorice—and they're all made on-demand. The seasonal operation also houses a marble-topped soda fountain that serves house-made ice cream, splits, floats, and frappes, and they even offer diner fare like omelets, griddle cakes, and burgers.

Insider Tip:

Goldenrod has an adjacent store called The Beach Fanatic that outfits beachgoers with clothes, chairs, and boogie boards beginning on Memorial Day weekend, when the establishment opens for the season.
