Suicide Six

247 Stage Rd.
Pomfret, VT, 05067, United States
TEL: (802) 457-6661

Quite possibly Vermont's most family-friendly ski area, Suicide Six is not as imposing as the name implies. With 23 trails, over 50% of which are conducive to beginner and intermediate skiers, the mountain draws crowds for its ease and accessibility—not to mention the groomed runs. Suicide Six was created in 1936, when Wallace "Bunny" Bertram opened the first ski lift on Hill No. Six (which, in actuality, was a primitive rope tow and the first lift of its kind in the Eastern US). Shuttles run the three-mile jaunt from Woodstock Inn to the ski mountain in South Pomfret, which hosts a variety of snow sports.

Insider Tip:

The Inn can provide babysitting referrals but does not offer in-house childcare. Suicide Six also has a children's ski school.
