Family-owned for more than a century, the Martinelli Winery has a history dating back to 1887, when Italian winemaker Giuseppe Martinelli and his wife Luisa moved to the Russian River Valley. Today, the winery has more than 350 acres of vineyards, including the famed Jackass Hill—the steepest, non-terraced vineyard in Sonoma County. The family produces a variety of wines, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Sauvignon Blanc. Housed in a turn-of-the-century hop kiln, the tasting room contains old redwood doors, a working fireplace, and the original hop baler, as well as a gift shop selling wine-related books and glassware.
