Idlewild Books

12 W. 19th St. ,
New York,
United States,

Named after the original New York International Airport, Idlewild Bookstore was opened by David Del Vecchio, a former United Nations press officer, in 2008. Located up a flight of stairs on the mezzanine-level, the travel-inspired independent overlooks 19th Street and features high ceilings as well as chairs salvaged from American Airlines' international terminal at Idlewild Airport. Unlike most bookshops, the titles in this store are organized by region, not by category, so don't be surprised to find a cookbook next to a guidebook next to a children’s book. The store also carries books in French and Spanish and non-literary accessories like international power adapters and luggage tags.
