West Village

The Spotted Pig

314 W. 11th St.
at Greenwich St.
New York, NY, 10014, United States
TEL: (212) 620-0393

If there is one thing this West Village restaurant doesn’t need, it’s more press. Since opening the city’s first gastro pub in 2004, chef April Bloomfield has won accolades galore with her seasonal British and Italian dishes. The ambiance is characterized by a kind of controled chaos; the walls are crowded with antique mirrors and art, and there's a red or green ceramic pig on almost every flat surface. Although pork dominates the spotlight, there are plenty of other options on the menu for the anti-porcine crowd and vegetarians, including their famous char grilled burger with Roquefort cheese and shoestring fries, and the sweet onion tart with chanterelles and goat cheese. Warning: mayonnaise is forbidden.

Insider Tip:

With regular customers like Lou Reed, Jay-Z, and Beyoncé, the Spotted Pig is a favorite of celebrity watchers, but they have a strict policy against taking photos.
