Rock Creek Park is the oldest urban park in the National Park Service system; at more than 2,000 Northwest DC acres, it covers some serious ground, too. This is where you’ll find the National Zoo, as well as hiking trails, picnic grounds, bicycle paths, tennis courts, horse stables, a nature center, and a planetarium. In the summer, the 4,000-seat Carter Barron Amphitheatre hosts concerts and movie nights.
