Main Street Bistro
Behind an ordinary green stucco storefront on Wailuku's central thoroughfare, Main Street Bistro serves contemporary Mediterranean and American dishes that chef Tom Selman describes as "refined comfort food." The long narrow dining room with stone-tile floors and casual rattan and ulphostered furniture echoes that theme. Entrees range from baby back ribs cooked with a local honey mustard glaze and local beef burgers to macadamia nut smoked duck breast salad. Counter seats allow diners to watch and chat with the chef as he mans the kitchen solo.
While Wailuku isn't exactly touristy, the Maui Historical Society offers tours of the nearby Bailey House Museum, a missionary-era home.
