Vieux-Montréal (Old Montreal)
Patinoire du Bassin Bonsecours
Between Jacques-Cartier and Clock Tower quays in the Old Port, the Patinoire du Bassin Bonsecours is a scenic outdoor skating rink along the St. Lawrence River. Each evening, from December to mid-March, a DJ plays music in styles ranging from classical to 1980’s hits. The Sunday chansons françaises includes Quebec and French-language tunes. Behind the skating rink, which is one of more than 150 rinks on the Island of Montreal, the city skyline rises up from the stone buildings along Rue de la Commune. Most prominent of these is the domed Bonsecours Market, built in 1847.
