Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary

13 Himmelpfortgasse,

Founded in 2002 in Vienna's First District by Francesca von Habsburg and run by the fourth generation of art collectors in the prominent Habsburg-Lorraine family, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary is not a prototypical museum. Instead of white rooms and galleries filled with exhibits, artwork here is arranged in unique spaces, which are engineered to be more approachable and less intimidating to the viewer, therefore fostering a more intimate connection with the art. The exhibits, referred to as "pavilions," appear in and around the museum grounds and showcase innovative designs and concepts by groundbreaking artists.
