Vienna
Österreicher im MAK
Vienna, 1010, Austria
Owned by celebrated Steirereck alum Helmut Österreicher, this namesake restaurant is housed inside the Museum für Angewandte Kunst (MAK), or Museum of Applied Arts. The main dining room is designed with a coffered ceiling, smoked oak flooring, and a large chandelier comprised of 200 clear wine bottles. Additional seating is available on the glass-walled patio with a retractable roof, as well as outside on the open-air garden terrace. The ever-changing menu is divided into two sections: classic Viennese cuisine, such as Weiner schnitzel with potato salad, and modern dishes like the fillet of pikeperch with arugula risotto and stewed tomatoes.
Insider Tip:
Plan to visit the restaurant on a Tuesday evening, when the museum has free admission from 6—10 p.m.
