Vienna
Meierei
Marked by a larger-than-life milk bottle statue, this café is housed in a restored 1903 milk bar in the Wiener Stadtpark (Viennese City Park). Meaning “dairy” in German, Meierei is decorated with all-white furniture, a bar lined with old-fashioned milk bottles, and floor-to-ceiling photographs of the signature beverage. Glass walls provide panoramic views of the leafy park and canal, and additional seating is available outside. The menu includes traditional dishes like Wiener schnitzel, but the specialties are the dairy-based items—including more than 150 cheeses—and the hot and cold milk, available in unusual flavors like lavender and cardamom.
Insider Tip:
After your meal, walk through the park to the gilded bronze statue of Johann Strauss II, said to be the most photographed monument in the city.
