Vienna
Prater Amusement Park
Although world famous, the Riesenrad isn't the only thing consistently drawing crowds to Vienna's amusement park. Yes, the 200-foot ferris wheel woos visitors from around the globe; however, hundreds of attractions keep the Wiener Prater (otherwise known as the Wurstelprater) at the top of tourists' and locals' to-do lists throughout the March-to-October season. Roller coasters and other rides, shows, and even flight simulators provide entertainment for all. There are more than 60 restaurants on site, and a planetarium and a museum, not to mention the Hauptallee (tree-lined main avenue) are additional reasons to visit Vienna's Leopoldstadt district.
Insider Tip:
Want to party? Try Pratersauna, nestled deep into the park. This former sauna-turned-nightclub can be hard to find; ask for directions or hail a taxi.
